Organizers of the Moscow International Film Festival in Russia have expressed their keenness to screen Iranian film in this year’s edition of the event.

Ivan Kudryavtsev, the chairman of the selection committee of MIFF, called for Iranian films to participate in the upcoming edition of MIFF that will take place in April.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Iran’s culture attaché to Russia, Masoud Ahmadvand.

Kudryavtsev, who recently attended the Fajr International Film Festival in Iran, hailed the experience and his trip to Iran and thanked the festival’s organizers for their efforts.

“The Russian delegation took part in the film market in addition to the Fajr festival and it was a very good experience and was a good opportunity to become more familiar with the capacities and work methods in the field of cinema.”

“We are happy that the jury gave two awards to Russian films,” Kudryavtsev added.

For his part, Ahmadvand stressed the importance of the reciprocal screening of films of both countries in the two countries’ movie theaters.

He also noted that Iranian films will have a strong presence in the Russian festival, referring to coordination made with Iranian Organization of Cinema and Farabi Cinema Foundation.
